Monogram etiquette is something that many of us are unsure of so we have put together a chart of the standard monograms using different scenarios.
Keep in mind that monograms are a personal preference and in todays world you can do just about anything. These are not the rules for monograms, only monogram guidelines.

Aprostophe in the Last Names Last names that include an apostrophe, such as O'Riley are traditionally monogrammed using the first initial of the last name.

Last Names with Mc Last names that begin with Mc, such as McDonald are traditionally monogrammed using the first initial of the last name.

Traditionally, Linen is the woman's domain and glassware is the man's. With that said, there are several options for monogramming a married couple's linens
If the wife is Margaret Hunt and the Husband is Chris Layfield
Traditional Couple's Monogram Wife first name initial, Shared last name initial and Wife Maden name initial.

Blended Last Names Couples that decide to hyphenate their last names, such as Hunt-Layfield are usually monogrammed using the first initial each of the last names.
